Masaya (say it like "Messiah")
On Sunday, we went to a couple volcanoes and a nearby town with Lydell Steiner and his family. (Lydell is one of our MCC team members here). One volcano, which is still active, is called "La Boca del Infierno" (the mouth of hell) - exciting, right? We enjoyed hiking and being tourists.

Looks like you two are finding a fun balance between learning and exploring your new country. I'm reminiscing about hundreds of trip to Volcan Masaya. Un abrazote, cuidense- Kim K
I'm glad that you made it to the mouth of hell and live to tell the tale. Hmmm... I know a few people I wouldn't mind taking there to "test the waters," like a certain TA for an assignment I just got back yesterday. I'm kidding, of course. Maybe.
Hi Beth and Alan, I met your mom Barb at your grandmother Classens funeral and asked for your e-mail. Your e-mail that was read at the funeral was very touching. You have a gift with words and you use them well. I have enjoyed reading and viewing your blog. We wish you well in your area and hope that God grants you health and strength as you work and learn the language. Love cindy
It has been nice to read your blogs. It sounds like you are having some interesting experiences. I read your blog on your tour of the volcanoes with Lydell Steiner and believe it or not I went to High School with him at Central Christian in Kidron, OH when we lived in Ohio. He is an interesting fellow. I am glad you got to meet him. I can't wait to read more about your experiences. Your cousin, Ryan Schmidt
I was amazed at the number of volcanoes there as we flew over the country. Since we took off from just South, the plane was still rising and we got fantastic views of Nicaragua on our way over. How exciting to get to see them up close and personal. Amazing the various differences throughout the world and in various countries. Did one of you ever say: "We're not in Kansas anymore"? hehehehe Scott Hammer
